Making the courageous decision to come to counselling can feel overwhelming, you are not alone. You are guaranteed a space to talk freely in a confidential and non-judgemental environment.
Collaborative working is key to good therapy, my role is to assist using an integrative approach utilising Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This allows me to tailor therapeutic intervention to individual needs. Our work will be client led and we work on the issues that you wish to address. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is central to our work together and is important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor hence I offer a free 15 minute telephone or online consultation session prior to starting working together. I will work with you in a safe and ethical manner to promote your well-being.
The time must be right for you to come to therapy, it takes courage to contact a counsellor and it is normal to feel nervous or anxious if this is a new experience.
All information is treated in the strictest confidence and per the requirements of my Governing Bodies. I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and Professional Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society. I am an Accredited Infant Loss Counsellor, registered with the Infant Loss Foundation. I abide by the professional ethical framework for good practice and offer you a professional experience of therapy.
My history, which led me into counselling, involved working in a professional ability with Barnardo’s & Women’s Aid and Educational Institutions. Within these roles I supported individuals, parents and families needing specialist support. I supported women fleeing domestic violence, individuals involved with the criminal justice system and child protection services. Advocating on behalf of individuals and families in crisis with local authority multi-disciplinary teams was a key feature of my work. These opportunities provided me with the experience of seeing first-hand the impact on lives (even generations) when no supportive professional psychological support is available. This informed my belief in counselling and psychotherapeutic services and the life changing impact of therapy for those able to access services.
Within private practice I offer services directly and via Berkshire Counselling & Psychotherapies. In addition to private practice, I have worked with a number of charitable organisations including ARC Wokingham, Time to Talk Reading and presently with the Community Interest Organisation, Time to Heal Directory. These opportunities offer the experience of meeting individuals presenting with wide ranging issues and to assist in improving their psychological and emotional well-being. We all benefit from the opportunity to talk freely and honestly without judgement. Making changes in our lives is possible even when it may feel like a mountain ahead of us.
I offer a supportive environment to a diverse range of individuals of varying gender, sexual orientation and cultural heritage.
